Book Publicity on a Budget – Seven Simple Steps for the Frugal Writer

Congratulations! Now that you’ve successfully published your book, it’s time to let the world know about it. Book promotion involves creating a website for your book, contacting the media, issuing press releases, holding readings and signings at bookstores, libraries, and book clubs, and scheduling speaking appearances at establishments interested in your work. Your publisher may provide you with some public relations exposure, but most publishers expect authors like you to promote their writing themselves. And if you’re like most writers, you may not have had much experience doing that kind of work.

The Book Publicity on a Budget workshop provides tips on how to successfully promote your book yourself. The course covers how to talk to the media and book store owners – who to contact, what to say, and how to get that all-important “yes” response to your inquiries. The workshop also covers seven simple but crucial steps in developing momentum and interest in your work, including how to:

1. Create a brand image and niche for you and your book
2. Write a dynamite press release that gets noticed by the media
3. Develop your own targeted book store and media contact list
4. Set up your own cross country book tour with maximized media opportunities
5. Design posters, postcards, bookmarks, and other giveaways for your book signings
6. Book speaking engagements at universities, libraries, and book clubs
7. Optimize your website, conduct blog tours, and use social media to reach out on the Internet
